PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Longhorn Western Rodeo 38 is the entry-level western belt in the range — split leather construction at an accessible price, with the same 90mm × 70mm 3D longhorn bull head buckle and interchangeable snap system as the premium western belts.
Split leather is honest about what it is: the lower layers of the hide, below full-grain and top-layer cowhide, with more consistent surface appearance and less natural variation. At this price point it is the correct material choice — it achieves crisp, uniform embossing and holds the deep floral and longhorn pattern well because the surface consistency allows for clean die-pressing. It does not develop patina the same way as full-grain leather, but for buyers who want the western aesthetic at an entry price, this is the correct trade-off.
The 80g alloy buckle provides the substantial weighted feel of traditional western hardware. The snap system is a standard western attachment — compatible with most trophy buckles with a standard snap receiver, allowing the strap to be used with buckles you already own.
The 38mm width is correct for standard denim loops. The structured rigidity of split leather prevents the belt from rolling over the waistband under heavy denim — a practical benefit of this specific construction at this width.
This belt suits rodeo, western-themed events, everyday denim wear with a western edge, and buyers who want an interchangeable strap base for existing trophy buckle collections.
HONEST CONSTRUCTION NOTE
Split leather provides a uniform, consistent surface that embosses cleanly and holds pattern definition well. It does not have the natural grain variation, fibre density, or long-term durability of full-grain or top-layer cowhide. It is the correct material for this price point and this use case — western casual and event wear in rotation, not sole daily professional wear.

Measure your waist at belt loop level. Add 15cm. Order the strap length that meets or exceeds this figure — the belt uses a pin-buckle with holes, so choose the length where your correct hole falls near the middle of the hole range.

CARE
Wipe with a damp cloth to remove surface dirt. Apply a light leather conditioner every 3–6 months to keep the split leather flexible. Avoid soaking — sustained water exposure weakens the adhesive bond in split leather construction.

FAQ
Is the buckle heavy? At approximately 80g the buckle has the substantial, weighted feel of traditional western hardware. It is not so heavy as to create waistband pull under normal wear.
Will the buckle rust? The antique finishes are electroplated — they resist corrosion under normal conditions. At sustained friction points (the snap post, buckle edges) electroplated finishes show gradual wear over months of regular use. This is expected for electroplated hardware at this price point.
Can I shorten the belt? Yes. Unsnap the buckle, trim from the buckle end, re-punch the snap holes, and reattach. Note: re-punching snap holes requires a snap hole punch tool — this is different from a standard belt hole punch. Confirm you have or can access this tool before trimming.
Is this split leather or full-grain? Split leather — honestly stated in the spec table and description. Split leather embosses cleanly and uniformly, which is why this construction is used for deep-pattern western belts at this price point. For full-grain western construction: Western Forge 5mm →
Can I use this strap with my own trophy buckles? Yes. The snap system uses a standard western snap post. Most standard western trophy buckles are compatible.
