PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
A 40mm clip-on pin buckle for DIY belt making and buckle replacement. The clip-on attachment system eliminates the stitched fold that traditional belt buckle attachment requires — slide the strap into the rear housing, align the pin through the strap hole, and press the toothed clip closed. The internal teeth grip the leather and hold the buckle in position without sewing, riveting, or tools.
This is a traditional pin buckle, not an automatic ratchet mechanism. It requires a strap with pre-punched holes for the pin to engage. It is not compatible with ratchet-track straps that use an internal groove.
The three finish options cover the main aesthetic registers for a zinc alloy rectangular buckle:
Nickel (matte): A smooth, low-sheen silver tone. The most neutral option — suits most leather colours and formal-to-casual contexts.
Dull (brushed): A brushed/satin texture with reduced reflectivity. Hides minor surface marks and scratches more effectively than a polished finish. The industrial option.

COMPATIBILITY
Works with: 38–40mm solid leather straps, canvas straps, and fabric straps with pre-punched holes.
Fits 35mm straps: The 40mm inner bar creates approximately 4mm of play with a 35mm strap. The buckle will function but the strap will not sit centred unless manually aligned during installation.
Not compatible with: Ratchet-track straps. Straps without pre-punched holes — the pin requires a hole to engage.

HOW TO INSTALL
- Ensure the strap has a pre-punched hole at the correct position for the pin
- Slide the strap into the rear housing of the buckle
- Align the pin-post through the hole in the strap
- Press the toothed clip firmly closed — the internal teeth grip the back face of the leather
- Pull the strap firmly to confirm the clip is fully seated
The clip is designed for permanent or semi-permanent attachment. It can be reopened with a flat tool if you need to reposition or remove the buckle, but it is not intended for frequent daily removal.

FINISH GUIDE
Nickel (matte): A smooth, low-sheen silver. The most versatile neutral — works with black, brown, tan, and grey straps. Suited to casual and smart casual contexts where the buckle should be present but not prominent.
Dull (brushed): A brushed satin texture — less reflective than matte, more industrial in character. Hides surface marks and scratches better than polished finishes. Suits workwear, outdoor, and casual contexts.
Laser Bright (gloss): A mirror-polished chrome finish. Maximum surface reflectivity — suited to fashion, statement casual, and any context where the buckle is intended to catch light and draw attention.

LASER ENGRAVING NOTE
The flat rectangular zinc alloy face holds laser markings clearly. Suitable for:
- Initial or monogram engraving
- Brand or logo marking for custom belt products
- Custom text or pattern etching
The Nickel (matte) and Dull (brushed) finishes produce the clearest laser contrast — the engraving appears as a lighter mark against the darker surface. The Laser Bright finish produces visible engraving but the high reflectivity reduces contrast at certain angles.
CARE
Wipe with a soft dry cloth. The Laser Bright finish is maintained by gentle wiping — abrasive cloths will scratch the mirror surface. The Nickel and Dull finishes are more resistant to surface marks and require only occasional wiping. The nickel-free plating resists daily corrosion under normal wear.
FAQ
Can I use this on a 35mm strap? It fits, but the 40mm inner bar leaves approximately 4mm of play around a 35mm strap. The buckle functions correctly but the strap sits off-centre unless manually positioned during clip installation.
Is it heavy enough for a work belt? Yes. Zinc alloy construction handles the tension of daily work belt use. The clip-on attachment is the load-bearing element — confirm the clip is fully seated before first use.
What does “Dull” mean? Dull refers to a brushed or satin finish — less reflective than Laser Bright, more textured than Nickel matte. The most industrial-looking of the three options.
Is this nickel-free? The plating is nickel-free. The base material is zinc alloy. For buyers with confirmed nickel allergies, the nickel-free plating provides a barrier — direct zinc contact at exposed edges is possible if the plating is worn.
