The crazy horse finish is an oiled, wax-treated surface applied to full-grain leather. The wax coat gives the leather a matte, slightly rough texture when new, and responds to scratches and pressure by lightening at the contact point — the oils in the leather redistribute, leaving a mark that reads as intentional aging rather than damage. A finger drawn across the surface leaves a visible lighter trace that fades back within minutes. Over months of wear, the belt develops a consistent patina — darker at the areas of sustained pressure, lighter at the flex points and scratch marks.
This is full-grain leather — the complete outer surface of the hide with the natural grain pattern intact. Natural growth lines, scars, and grain variations are visible on the surface. These are characteristics of uncorrected full-grain leather, not defects.
