This belt uses vegetable tanning — a slower process using plant-derived tannins that produces denser, firmer leather with higher resistance to deformation over time.
Vegetable-tanned leather starts stiffer than chrome-tanned leather. Within the first two to four weeks of daily wear it begins to mold to your waist and the specific way you move, producing a fit that chrome-tanned leather does not replicate to the same degree. The surface develops a patina — a deepening of color and character — more dramatically than chrome-tanned leather because the natural tannins continue to interact with light and oils over years of wear.
This is full-grain leather, not top-layer cowhide. Full-grain retains the complete outer surface of the hide including the natural grain pattern. The fibre density and structural integrity of full-grain vegetable-tanned leather makes it the most durable option in the range for daily wear. Natural growth lines, grain texture, and skin markings are visible on the surface — these are characteristics of uncorrected full-grain leather, not defects.
The solid brass pin buckle is the same specification used on the other brass variants in the range — solid, not plated. Screw-fastened attachment allows length adjustment at home in under two minutes.
Available in Black, Dark Coffee, Dark Brown, and Khaki. The Khaki and Dark Brown leathers develop the most visible patina — exposure to light and handling darkens the surface toward a deep amber or mahogany tone over months of wear.
